Rose Parade

The Taiwanese Women's Club of Greater Portland is planning to participate in this year's 2012 Rose Festival Parade. Our marching theme will be “Native Taiwanese Music, Dance, and Walk” and we would like to recruit 30 to 40 people to join us in this parade. Since it is our first time trying to join the event, we would like to be thoroughly prepared and walk proudly as a representation of our shining heritage. Our subject matters are not only unique to ourselves but truly reflect the culture of Taiwan. It is our hope that this opportunity will continue on, allowing us the chance to promote Taiwan's native culture through the years to come.

We welcome every Taiwanese to participate, without limitations on gender, race nor age. The time and place of practice will be tailored to your needs. DVDs will be handed out to all participants to help practice at home. In addition, TWCGP (Taiwanese Women's Club of Greater Portland) will be providing uniforms and accessories.

Through the help of our board members, Hsiu-Chin Boyer and Lisa Lo, we are fortunate to invite Ms. Tiffany Lee to be our teacher/instructor. She will be assisting us in song choice, choreographing as well as teaching us how to dance. Ms. Lee, who was born and raised in Taiwan, specializes in ballet dance, aerobics and yoga. She studied at Kaohsiung Chung Hwa School of Arts and Tainan Woman's College of Arts & Technology. After graduation, she joined Taipei City Ballet and Kaohsiung City Ballet for the season year to perform. She was Nike/Taiwan contracted instructor and Nike rock star instructor in the United States.

2012 玫瑰花車遊行

June 9^th

大波特蘭區台灣婦女會 計劃參與今年，2012，六月九日波特蘭市玫瑰花車遊行。我們的遊行主題是「台灣原住民的音樂、舞蹈與行進」。大波特蘭區台灣婦女會 希望徵求三十到四十名台灣鄉親參加這次的遊行。這次是婦女會第一次挑戰參與玫瑰花車遊行。我們希望準備周全，題材真實且具獨特性；如此，才有機會每年為台灣宣傳獨特的台灣原民文化。

參與遊行的鄉親沒有年齡與性別的限制，先生、小姐、公公、婆婆、大人、小孩都可以參加。遊行前排練的時間地點將配合鄉親需求。對於不方便參加練習的鄉親，或想在家練習的朋友，婦女會將發DVD給大家在家裡練習。遊行所需要的服裝道具由大波特蘭區台灣婦女會提供。

經由婦女會理事黃春桂與戴秀琴的努力，我們有幸找到Tiffany Lee老師，她將為我們選歌編舞、教舞。Tiffany是我們的台灣同鄉，在台灣出生，長大。她專研芭蕾舞，有氧舞蹈和瑜珈。她也是溫哥華市中文學校的舞蹈老師。在台灣時間，Tiffany 老師曾經屬於台北市芭蕾舞蹈團與高雄市芭蕾舞蹈團，並有多次年季表演的經驗。在美國，她是多個健身中心的指導老師，也為Nike做成Rock Star 影片，是Rock Star的訓練老師。
